17! CZECH MASTERS WELCOMES THE MOST CZECH GOLFERS EVER AT ALBATROSS

Two more Czech names were added to the starting list of the eighth year of the D+D REAL Czech Masters golf tournament on Monday. David Benak, a professional, and Matěj Bača, an amateur, joined already certain participants of the tournament. The tournament will start at Albatross on Thursday with the first round, on Tuesday afternoon there will be a press conference at the Občanská plovárná in Prague, followed by a Raiffeisenbank exhibition on the Vltava.

Benák turned Pro this summer and this will be his debut start at the Czech Masters. This year, he was still an amateur on the Challenge Tour at the Kaskáda Golf Challenge, where he failed to make the cut after rounds of 80 and 79. He also missed the cut at the Prague Golf Challenge in 2018 and at the D+D REAL Czech Challenge a year later.

Still an amateur Bača will compete for the second time against the pros on the DP World Tour at Albatross. He made his debut last year when he finished six shots short of the cut after rounds of 74 and 76. He confirmed his good form ahead of this year’s event last week in Beroun, where he finished sixth in the Czech Open with a score of -13.

Repeatedly he was the best amateur in the whole starting field. “I’m happy with that, even though this year I had a worse score and position than last year. Today was probably the calmest round from me. I could have leaned on my game from tees, but my putting let me down. I’ve been struggling with that lately,” said Bača after the Czech Masters rehearsal and recalled that last year he finished 2nd in Beroun with a score of -23.

Benák and Bača increased the number of Czech professionals and amateurs at this year’s Czech Masters to twelveprofessionals, respectively five amateurs. Among the pros, Ondřej Lieser, Stanislav Matuš, Jan Cafourek, Filip Mrůzek, Šimon Zach, Gordan Brixi, Matyáš Zapletal, Aleš Kořínek, Michal Pospíšil, Jakub Bareš and Štěpán Daněk are also in the starting field. The amateurs will be represented by Dominik Pavouček, Maxmilian Jelinek, David Tomi and still 12 years old Louis Klein.

The D+D REAL Czech Masters tournament will be played from 18th to 21st August at the Albatross Golf Resort near Prague. The European DP World Tour tournament is worth €1.75 million and is main star is English legend Ian Poulter.
